A printer that streaks, smudges, or refuses to connect can bring a home office to a standstill. The good news: most faults trace back to a short list of culprits — dried or clogged print heads, low or uneven toner, tired paper-feed rollers, and outdated drivers.

Faded prints and streaks

Start with the simple checks: run the printer's built-in cleaning cycle, reseat the cartridges, and print a test page. If output is still faded, the cartridge may be low or the print head partially blocked. A second cleaning cycle usually clears it — but if the same band appears in the same place every time, the drum or head itself may be worn.

Constant paper jams

Recurring jams almost always mean worn feed rollers or debris in the paper path. Remove the tray, check for torn scraps of paper, and fan the stack before reloading — overfilled or damp paper is a classic cause. Rollers that look shiny and smooth have lost their grip and need replacing, a quick and affordable job on most models.

Offline and connection errors

When the printer insists it is offline, reinstall the latest driver from the manufacturer and re-add the printer on your network. Assigning the printer a static IP address on your router prevents the most common repeat of this fault.

When to call a technician

If pages still emerge faded or jammed after these steps, the feed rollers, fuser, or formatter board may be worn — all quick replacements in our workshop. We diagnose printer faults the same day and return most machines within 48 hours. See our printer repair service.
