Phones and tablets work hard every day, and a little maintenance goes a long way. These five habits are the same advice our technicians give at the counter — follow them and your device will stay fast far longer.
1. Keep software current
Updates patch the bugs that cause freezes, crashes, and battery drain. Turn on automatic updates and install them over Wi-Fi — most "mystery slowdowns" we see are fixed by an update the owner kept postponing.
2. Mind your storage
A device gasping for free space slows to a crawl. Keep at least 10% of storage free: offload photos to the cloud, delete apps you haven't opened in months, and clear downloaded files you forgot about.
3. Protect the battery
Heat is the enemy. Avoid leaving your phone in a hot car, take thick cases off while fast-charging, and don't keep the battery pinned at 100% overnight every night — most phones now offer an optimized-charging mode worth switching on.
4. Armor the glass
Most shattered screens we replace never had a case or screen protector. A quality case and tempered-glass protector cost a fraction of a screen replacement and prevent the majority of breakage.
5. Restart weekly
A weekly restart clears rogue background processes and memory leaks. If your phone still misbehaves after all five habits, our mobile bench diagnoses it on the spot — see our mobile repair service.
Cracked it anyway? It happens.
Most screens replaced in under two hours.
